General Statement

At AlluraMD, your safety, comfort, and results are our top priorities. To help minimize the risk of side effects and ensure the best possible outcome, please carefully review the following guidelines and discuss any questions with your healthcare provider.

Every client is unique, and treatment results may vary depending on factors such as age, skin and tissue condition, overall health, lifestyle habits, and sun exposure. Completing your medical history thoroughly and keeping open communication with your provider will help us create the safest and most effective treatment plan for you.

Please follow all pre- and post-treatment instructions provided based on your treatment. If you have questions about your care plan, we encourage you to reach out before your appointment. After treatment, if you experience any symptoms that concern you, please contact us immediately. For emergencies or life-threatening issues, call 911 immediately, then follow up with our team for further updates.

Important Notes

  • Certain treatments may not be suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have open sores in the treatment area.
  • To achieve optimal results, all services should be scheduled at least two weeks before a major event.
  • Avoid sun exposure and spray tanning for four weeks before and after treatment.
  • If receiving dermal fillers, please avoid dental procedures for four weeks following treatment.
  • Allow at least four weeks between dermal filler/neurotoxin treatments and laser procedures (e.g., RF microneedling, IPL, ResurFx, Pico, fractional treatments).
  • Refrain from consuming alcohol prior to your appointment.
  • Arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for check-in.
  • For the safety and comfort of all clients, please do not bring pets or children into the treatment area.
  • If you are feeling unwell, kindly call to reschedule your appointment.
  • Reschedule at least 48 hours in advance if you have a rash, sunburn or cold sore in the treatment area.

Aveli Cellulite Treatment

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, NSAIDs, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort) for 2 weeks prior, if possible.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
  • Consultation required to review potential risks, which include bruising, swelling, fluid collection, infection, pain, numbness, scarring, or discoloration.
  • Avoid flying for 1 week post-treatment (cabin pressure may worsen swelling or bruising).

Post-Treatment Care

  • Light activity may be resumed after 24 hours; take it easy the day of treatment.
  • Mild discomfort, burning sensations, or clear/pink fluid leakage may occur in the first 48 hours. Tylenol and ice packs (10 minutes at a time) may help.
  • Wear compressive clothing (leggings, yoga pants) for the first week and up to 2 weeks post-treatment to reduce bruising and swelling.
  • Engage in light activity during the first 14 days, but avoid strenuous exercise.
  • Numbness, tenderness, or firm/soft areas are normal and usually improve within 60 days.
  • Swelling should resolve within 14 days; bruising may last up to 30 days.
  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure; apply SPF to insertion points for 1 month.
  • If areas of firmness remain, gently massage with fingertips daily.
  • Follow up with your provider within 90 days.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Laser treatment

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before treatment. If outdoors, wear SPF 30+ and protective clothing.
  • Stop retinoids, Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic acids, and exfoliants 7 days before. Avoid chemical peels or waxing in the treatment area for 1 week.
  • Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or similar supplements/medications for 7 days before (unless prescribed by your doctor).
  • Avoid tanning beds, sunbathing, or self-tanners for 2 weeks before.
  • Shave the treatment area the night before if facial or body hair is present. Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatory creams.
  • Arrive with clean skin on the day of treatment. No makeup, lotions, or creams.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Redness and swelling are normal for 1–3 days. Apply cold compresses if needed.
  • Cleanse with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water; avoid scrubbing or exfoliation for 5–7 days.
  • Keep skin moisturized with a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer.
  • Apply SPF 30+ daily, reapplying every 2 hours outdoors. Avoid direct sun for at least 2 weeks.
  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours. Once redness subsides, mineral-based makeup is recommended.
  • Do not use retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliants for 5–7 days or until fully healed.
  • Pigmented spots may darken and flake off naturally in 7–14 days. Do not pick or peel.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise for 48 hours.
  • Drink plenty of water to support healing and continue daily sunscreen use.
  • Treatments are often spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Follow your provider’s recommendations.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Chemical Peels 

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Discontinue prescription topical products (such as Tretinoin, Retin-A, Differin) at least 5 days prior to treatment.
  • Stop the use of scrubs, AHA/BHA acids, and benzoyl peroxide 3 days prior.
  • Avoid facial waxing for 1 week prior.
  • Do not undergo IPL or laser hair removal in the treatment area for 2 weeks prior.
  • Limit sun exposure for at least 2 weeks prior.
  • If prone to cold sores, begin the prescribed antiviral medication 2 days before treatment and continue for 2 days afterward.
  • Neurotoxin treatments may be performed 24 hours before or after most peels (with the exception of the VI Peel).
  • Dermal filler treatments should be scheduled at least 1 week before or after.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Redness, flaking, and light peeling are normal for several days.
  • Do not pick or pull at peeling skin.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours.
  • Refrain from heat exposure, vigorous exercise, or activities that cause sweating for several days.
  • Avoid harsh skincare products, including Retin-A, acids, and scrubs, for 5–7 days.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, and apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily.
  • Avoid tanning and minimize sun exposure for at least 7 days.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Cooltone

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid booking this treatment when close to menstruation as you may experience earlier onset or stronger cramping.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Mild muscle pain or soreness may occur several hours after treatment.
  • You may resume your normal diet and exercise routine immediately.

CoolSculpting 

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Do not use Retin-A, retinoids, or Vitamin A compounds for 2 days before treatment.
  • Shave coarse hairs in the treatment area before your appointment.
  • Wait at least 1 week after treatment before flying, as cabin pressure may worsen swelling or bruising.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Do not use Retin-A, retinoids, or Vitamin A compounds for 2 days after treatment.
  • Wait at least 1 week after treatment before flying.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.
  • Follow your provider’s directions regarding compression garments.
  • Do not shower for at least 4 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and massages for 48 hours.
  • Drink plenty of water for the first 24 hours.
  • Swelling and bruising in the treatment area may last 1–2 weeks, sometimes longer.

Dermal Filler

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications and supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for 2 weeks prior.
  • Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours prior.
  • Discontinue Retin-A or retinoid use for 2 days before and after treatment.
  • Avoid dental work for 2 weeks before and 1 month after treatment.
  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any major event.
  • Eat and hydrate properly before your appointment.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness are common and may last up to 7 days.
  • Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for at least 6 hours.
  • Do not exercise, consume alcohol, or expose the area to excess sun or heat for 24 hours.
  • Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, and high-dose vitamin E for 5 days after treatment.
  • Refrain from dental procedures for 2 weeks post-treatment.
  • Makeup may be applied after several hours if there are no signs of complications.
  • A follow-up appointment is recommended in 2 weeks.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Facials - Aesthetic

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Results vary depending on your skin and the specific treatment; consult your provider for expected downtime and planning.
  • Avoid tanning, spray tans, or sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after treatment.
  • Do not wax for 2 weeks before and after treatment.
  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs, exfoliants, and bleaching creams for 2 weeks before and after treatment.
  • Avoid scheduling swimming, using a hot tub, or sauna post-treatment.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Avoid tanning, spray tans, and sun exposure for 4 weeks.
  • Do not wax for 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for 3–4 days after peels or treatments that increase skin sensitivity.
  • Do not use Retin-A, retinoids, vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs, exfoliants, or bleaching creams for 2 weeks.
  • Check with your provider before swimming, using hot tubs, or saunas after treatment.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Filler Dissolving 

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any major event to allow time for healing and adjustments if needed.
  • Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup, lotions, or sunscreen on the treatment area.
  • Inform your provider of any previous filler treatments in the area being dissolved.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site is normal and should settle within a few days.
  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling if needed.
  • Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area unless instructed by your provider.
  • Refrain from strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat (saunas, hot tubs) for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first night to minimize swelling.
  • Keep the skin clean and free of heavy skincare or makeup for the first 12 hours.

Hair Restoration with PRF

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Do not schedule treatment within 2 weeks of receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Book your appointment at least 2 weeks before any special event (e.g., weddings, vacations).
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, NSAIDs, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort) for 2 weeks before treatment, if possible.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
  • Discontinue Retin-A, Retinoids, or similar Vitamin A products 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.
  • If prone to cold sores, begin prescribed antiviral medication 2 days prior and continue for 2 days after.
  • Eat and hydrate before your appointment to reduce risk of lightheadedness.
  • Avoid flying for 1 week post-treatment (cabin pressure may worsen swelling/bruising).
  • Avoid dental work (including cleanings) 2 weeks before and 1 month after treatment.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Do not wash or shower for at least 6 hours post-treatment.
  • Avoid touching, pressing, or rubbing the treated areas for at least 8 hours.
  • For discomfort, use Tylenol (acetaminophen); avoid NSAIDs (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin).
  • Avoid supplements like Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E for 3–7 days before and after treatment.
  • Cold compresses may be applied, but it is preferred to avoid them unless necessary.
  • Do not apply lotions, creams, or makeup for 6 hours.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, heat, and sun exposure for 3 days.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking for 3 days before and after treatment.
  • Prepare for bruising, redness, itching, soreness, or swelling lasting 3–10 days.

IV Therapy

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Eat a light meal before your session to help maintain stable blood sugar.
  • Drink water beforehand to ensure you are well-hydrated.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms.
  • Relax and arrive on time to allow for a smooth session.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Continue to drink plenty of water after your session to maximize the benefits.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting with the treated arm for several hours.
  • Keep the injection site clean and avoid applying pressure or irritants.
  • Contact your provider if swelling, pain, or prolonged discomfort occurs.

Dermaplaning

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, and harsh exfoliants for 5 days prior.
  • No recent chemical peels, lasers, before treatment.
  • Ensure no sunburns in the treatment area.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Mild redness or sensitivity may occur.
  • Avoid exfoliants and retinoids for 5 days post.
  • Apply gentle moisturizer and SPF daily.
  • Makeup can be applied after 24 hrs.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Laser Hair Removal

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Shave the treatment area 1–2 days prior.
  • Avoid tanning, direct sun exposure, and self-tanners for 4 weeks prior.
  • Do not wax, tweeze, pluck, or use depilatories for 4 weeks prior (shaving only is permitted).
  • Discontinue topical retinoids for 2 weeks prior.
  • If prone to cold sores, begin the prescribed antiviral medication 2 days before treatment and continue for 2 days afterward.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Redness, follicular swelling, and small bumps may occur and typically resolve within 48 hours.
  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, and exfoliating products for 48–72 hours.
  • Use a mild cleanser and moisturizer as part of your skincare routine.
  • Avoid makeup or deodorant on irritated areas until the skin has healed.
  • Apply SPF 30+ daily and limit sun exposure.
  • Do not wax, tweeze, or pluck hair between sessions (shaving only is recommended).
  • Multiple sessions (6–10 treatments spaced 4–8 weeks apart) are required to achieve optimal results.

Microdermabrasion Treatment

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning: Stay out of the sun and do not use self-tanning products for at least two weeks.
  • Avoid recent cosmetic procedures: Wait at least 2-3 weeks after waxing, laser treatments, chemical peels, or fillers.
  • 2 to 3 days prior to the treatment, zvoid all products that exfoliate, including those with glycolic acid or salicylic acid, as well as retinoids like Retin-A, topical acne medications or harsh products.
  • Do not wax or tweeze the treatment area for at least one week.
  • Arrive with a clean face, free of all makeup, lotions, and creams.

Post-Treatment Care

  • For the first 24hrs, stay away from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise, which can increase skin sensitivity and irritation.
  • Do not go swimming for at least 72 hours, especially in chlorinated or salt water.
  • Within the first 24 to 72 hours, avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds, as your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays.
  • Do not use active ingredients like retinols, AHAs, BHAs, or harsh scrubs for at least 72 hours.
  • Gently wash the area with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat the skin dry with a soft towel instead of rubbing.
  • Avoid picking at your skin or using abrasive scrubs to prevent damage and aid in the healing process.
  • Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to soothe the skin and prevent dryness or flaking.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Microneedling (SkinPen, etc.)

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Discontinue Rx topicals (Tretinoin, Retin-A, Differin, etc.) 5 days prior.

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, etc.) for 5–7 days before treatment, unless prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not use self-tanning creams or sprays for 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated before your session.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Redness and swelling are normal for 24–48 hours. Apply cool compresses if needed.
  • Cleanse gently with cool or lukewarm water and a mild cleanser for 3 days. Avoid scrubs or exfoliants.
  • Keep skin moisturized with a gentle, non-irritating product. Reapply as needed to prevent dryness.
  • Apply SPF 30+ daily and reapply every 2 hours outdoors. Avoid direct sun for 1–2 weeks.

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 2 weeks prior.
  • No alcohol 24 hrs prior.
  • Avoid Retin-A/Retinoids 2 days before and after.
  • Schedule at least 2 weeks before a major event.
  • Avoid dental work 2 weeks before and 1 month after.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Remain upright for 4 hrs after the injection.
  • Gently exercise facial muscles for 1–2 hrs after.
  • Avoid exercise, alcohol, and heat for 24 hrs.
  • Do not massage or manipulate treated areas for 48 hrs.
  • Mild headache, bruising, or swelling may occur.
  • Results appear in 3–4 days, with full effect at 14 days.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

RF Microneedling (Morpheus8, etc.)

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Discontinue Rx topicals (Tretinoin, Retin-A, Differin, etc.) 5 days prior.
  • No waxing in treatment area 1–2 weeks prior.
  • No sun exposure or self-tanners in treatment area 4 weeks prior.
  • Neurotoxin at least 7 days before; fillers at least 4 weeks before (ideally after the series).
  • Stop aspirin, NSAIDs, fish oil, and alcohol a few days before.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Redness and swelling for 24–72 hrs is normal.
  • Short-term sensitivity, micro-bruising, and sandpaper-like texture may occur.
  • Mild peeling is possible.
  • Avoid Retin-A, acids, scrubs, benzoyl peroxide for 5 days after.

SkinVive Treatment

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen) and certain supplements (fish oil, vitamin E) for at least a week, as directed by your provider.
  • Stop active ingredients like retinol and glycolic acid for a few days before your appointment.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your treatment to help prevent bruising.
  • Do not smoke for at least 24 hours before.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after.
  • Arrive for your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated area to prevent the product from shifting.
  • Apply gentle cold compresses to minimize swelling and discomfort.
  • Avoid applying makeup to the injection sites for at least 12–24 hours.
  • Sleep with your head elevated on the first night to help reduce swelling.
  • Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. 
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) daily to protect your skin from the sun.
  • Avoid harsh skincare products like retinoids and strong acids for the first 24–48 hours, and potentially longer depending on your provider’s instructions.
  • Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers, especially for the first few days.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Sculptra / Radiesse

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any special event (such as weddings or vacations), as results take several weeks to appear.
  • Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or lotions on the treatment area.
  • Follow any preparation guidelines given by your provider before your session.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Follow the 5-5-5 rule: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.
  • Massage gently but firmly, as this is essential for proper product integration and to prevent lumps or bumps.
  • Expect minor swelling or bruising, which should resolve on its own.
  • Apply a cold compress as needed to minimize initial swelling.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, heat exposure, or alcohol for the first 24 hours unless otherwise advised.
  • Follow your provider’s recommendations for ongoing skincare and aftercare.

Ultherapy

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Schedule Ultherapy before dermal fillers (wait at least 1 month after any dermal filler in the treatment area).
