Chemical Peels in Boynton Beach, FL

Uncover The Beauty Beneath

At AlluraMD Aesthetics + Wellness, our expert aesthetic specialists in Boynton Beach will meet with you during a consultation to assess any skin conditions, address any concerns, and determine which chemical peel is right for you.

Chemical peels improve various skin issues; however, results will differ depending on the severity of your skin condition and the type of peel you receive. You are a good candidate for a chemical peel treatment if:

  • Your skin is overall healthy
  • You have minimal scarring
  • Your complexion is light to medium
  • Your wrinkles are mostly superficial

TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS

The type of chemical peel needed will be determined by your aesthetic specialist, your skin-related concerns, and how much downtime you can take before resuming your daily activities.

Light Chemical Peel

A light chemical peel treatment may only require a topical numbing cream. Once your face is cleaned, you are given eye protection to wear. The aesthetic specialist will apply a chemical solution such as salicylic acid to your treated areas. You may feel a slight stinging sensation as your skin starts to whiten. The solution is then removed, and a neutralizing solution is applied to calm your skin. Your overall treatment takes about 15-20 minutes. Several treatments may be needed to achieve your desired results. Light chemical peels can be applied every two to five weeks. Light chemical peels are used for:

  • Acne
  • Dry skin
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Small or fine wrinkles

Medium Chemical Peel

Your aesthetic expert will use a unique applicator or sponge to apply the chemical solution to your skin. The solution may contain glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid, with a blue color added; this is sometimes called the blue peel. As the solution is applied, your skin will whiten. You may feel a stinging or burning sensation and be given a cool compress for your skin or a fan to cool your skin. The blue coloring of the peel will show on your skin for several days after your chemical peel treatment. Your overall treatment lasts about 30 minutes to one hour. Medium chemical peels are used to treat:

  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Blotchy or uneven skin tone

Several treatments may be needed to achieve your desired results. Medium chemical peels can be applied every two to four months.

Deep Chemical Peel

Deep chemical peels require you to be sedated. Your aesthetic specialist will apply phenol to your skin, causing your skin to turn white or gray. Various portions of your skin are exposed to the chemical solution in 15-minute increments to limit exposure to the acid. Your overall treatment will take about one to two hours. Deep chemical peels will treat the following:

  • Deep scars
  • Deep wrinkles
  • Precancerous skin patches

Your deep chemical peel treatment will last for about ten years.

"I recently had a HydraFacial at Allura MedSpa + Wellness and absolutely loved it. The aesthetician was Daphne and she was very gentle and knowledgeable. Her first order of business was to create a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for me - I took off my shoes, snuggled up with a cozy blanket and closed my eyes to relaxing spa music. I was literally glowing after the treatment. Even my husband mentioned how great my skin looked when I got home. I can’t wait to go back for my next treatment."

Acne

Light or medium chemical peels are used to treat acne, which is a common inflammatory skin condition. Your chemical peel treatment will:

  • Kill bacteria
  • Unplug hair follicles
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Decrease your oil production

Acne scars

Bumpy or raised scars sometimes form after an acne breakout; these are known as atrophic scars and may cause depressions in your skin. Your medium chemical peel will:

  • Remove excess collagen
  • Exfoliate the top layer of your skin
  • Provide softer, smoother, and scar-free skin

Rosacea

Rosacea is a frustrating skin condition that causes red bumps, redness, and swelling on your face and is often hard to disguise, even with makeup. Your aesthetic expert will discuss and assess your level of Rosacea, but typically chemical peels are recommended for mild to moderate Rosacea.

Dull or Aging Skin

Using a chemical peel will help your skin trigger collagen and elastin production and provide you with a smooth, supple result that will reduce wrinkles. However, chemical peels do not remove deep wrinkles and won’t tighten sagging skin.

Hyperpigmentation

Light or medium chemical peels can improve forms of hyperpigmentation, including:

  • Freckles
  • Melasma
  • Sun damage
  • Surgical scars
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Scars caused by an injury

Precancerous Growths

Caused by years of sun exposure, rough skin patches on your skin, or Actinic keratoses are precancerous growths and potentially may turn into skin cancer. A deep chemical peel can help to decrease your risk of skin cancer by removing these growths. However, it is best to discuss your options with your doctor. Our aesthetic experts at Allura will work with you and your doctor to make sure the deep chemical peel is a suitable option for your skin condition.

Chemical Peel Procedure

Our chemical peel treatments are performed at Allura’s medspas. Before your treatment, your aesthetic expert provided pre-treatment instructions that are important to follow, such as:

  • One week before treatment, don’t wax or bleach your hair in the treated areas.
  • One week prior to treatments, stop using facial scrubs and exfoliants
  • 48-hours before your treatment, stop using any retinol or Retin-A products.
  • You will need to arrange a ride to and from the office for deep or medium peels because you will receive an anesthetic.
  • If you have a prescribed painkiller or sedative, you may need to take it before coming to the office, which means you should have someone drive you to your appointment.

Your aesthetic specialist will help you determine which chemical peel treatment is suitable to alleviate your skin-related concerns during your consultation. It’s vital to discuss any medications you are currently taking and whether or not you are prone to cold sore or fever blister breakouts. Chemical peels may irritate your skin and cause a breakout, but to avoid this, you may be prescribed an antiviral medication to take before your treatment.
