You’ve likely had acne at some point in your life — in fact, it is one of the most common skin conditions in the United States today. While it may have caused some questionable turtleneck choices in your younger years or pictures you’d like to burn, for others, it can cause severe scarring that leaves a reminder of those awkward teen years many years later.

At Allura Aesthetics, we get it. Many of our Boynton Beach, FL patients suffer from acne scarring, whether they still get acne now in their adulthood or it’s left from their younger years. These pitted-looking scars can be unsightly and create an uneven skin tone. And while it might seem like you’re stuck with the scars forever, we can help!

What is RF microneedling?

One of the more popular treatments we offer is radiofrequency (RF) microneedling. This is a nonsurgical treatment that allows us to help patients address a variety of different issues. Utilizing the cutting-edge technology of the Morpheus8™, we use a combination of RF technology, microneedling, and fractional treatments to treat issues, such as:

  • Sagging skin
  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Discoloration
  • Age spots or sun damage
  • Acne scars

This unique combination of techniques helps to prompt collagen growth, which generates smooth and firm skin, and a beautiful, youthful-looking complexion.

Does RF microneedling help get rid of acne scars?

Treating acne scars with radiofrequency microneedling is a great way for our Boynton Beach, FL patients to get natural results and healthy skin. Morpheus8 allows Allura Aesthetics staff to adjust the energy level on the device to give you a personalized treatment to help you get your desired results. This is actually an ideal acne scar treatment because there is minimal downtime, and you’ll likely start to notice results within two sessions. Multiple sessions may be needed until your desired results are reached, but this skin rejuvenating treatment is a tried-and-true method for acne scar removal.

What is the recovery period for RF microneedling?

One of the things that makes radiofrequency microneedling an attractive option when someone is looking into how to get rid of acne scars is that it is minimally invasive. The procedure can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, after which you can go home. You can expect to have some pinpoint scabs at the treatment sites, along with some redness, swelling, and perhaps some areas of taut skin; however, this should disappear on its own after a few days.

As long as you follow the at-home care routine suggested by the Allura Aesthetics team, which will include things like the generous use of sunscreen, keeping the skin moisturized, and more, you should be ready to return work within a day and will start noticing results within a few weeks. Any additional sessions will be scheduled for about 3 – 4 weeks apart.

Once you’re happy with your acne scar reduction, keep your skin rejuvenated and healthy with complementary treatments like BOTOX® wrinkle relaxers, facials, and more.
